metadata.atena.dc.description: O presente estudo objetiva identificar publicações científicas, em âmbito mundial, sobre ativos intangíveis, no período de 2006 a 2011, em uma base de dados de acesso aberto, o Directory of Open Access Journal (DOAJ). O tema justifica-se devido à relevância do assunto ativo intangível, reconhecidamente um elemento importante do patrimônio das entidades - gerando riqueza e sendo indispensável nos processos decisórios – principalmente, em ambiente competitivo de uma sociedade em que diferenciais são essenciais. A escolha pela busca de publicações em uma base de dados de acesso aberto deve-se à compreensão de que o conhecimento científico precisa ser comunicado, para assim ter impacto na sociedade e colaborar para o seu desenvolvimento. Trata-se de uma pesquisa descritiva, de cunho quanti-qualitativo e tendo como universo cinquenta e quatro artigos com o termo ativo intangível, em vinte e seis periódicos de nove países. Dentre os países com maior número de periódicos sobre o tema destaca-se a Romênia, com um total de dez periódicos. O Brasil ocupa a segunda posição, com quatro periódicos publicados e a predominância desse tema foi evidenciada e mais representativa, no assunto “Gestão e Negócios”. O periódico que mais se destacou pelo numerativo de publicações sobre o tema foi o Intangible Capital, da Espanha. A produção científica evoluiu ao longo do período analisado da pesquisa, passando de seis artigos, em 2006 para quinze artigos, em 2011, caracterizados como de autoria individual (50%).  A pesquisa evidenciou, também, que capital intelectual foi o subassunto mais pesquisado na base DOAJ. Palavras-chave: Ativos intangíveis; Publicações científicas; Base de dados de acesso aberto; DOAJ.Intangible assets, visible results: scientific production in open access databaseABSTRACTThis study aims to identify scientific publications worldwide on intangible assets during the period from 2006 to 2011, in an open access database, the Directory of Open Access Journal (DOAJ). The country with the largest number of periodicals on the subject was Romania, with a total of ten journals. Brazil ranks second with four periodicals published and the predominance of the theme was evident and more representative, on the Business and Management subject. The journal that stood out by number of publications on the subject was the Intangible Capital from Spain. The scientific literature has evolved over the period analyzed by the research from six articles in 2006 to fifteen articles in 2011 and most of them is individually authored (50%).
